1. Introduction
In our maths lessons, we will be offering a range of activities linked to all aspects of sport (physical, cultural, artistic, civic and heritage), the Olympic Games and values, based on dynamic and lively content. This is an opportunity to work collectively, collaboratively and playfully, to enrich the teaching of mathematics, to add meaning and to celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic spirit.2. Aims
- To enrich math lessons with different activities about the Olympic and paralympic games
- To motivate our students by emphazing how mathematics are used in sport fields such as : physical, cultural, artistic, civic and heritage.
- To develop students’21st century skills
- To build an European culture and sense of belonging with the symbols of the Olympic and paralympic Games
- To use technology in teaching math lessons.
- To learn the importance of lifelong learning and the beauty of research
- To promote cooperation, tolerance and communication among students through talking about ideas and feelings
3. Work process
The project will start in September and end in June.
With the partners:
- Share a collaborative doc with the goals, expectations, ideas from each other..
- Online meeting with partners about tasks, timeframe.
- Register students for twinspace.
- Create international teams
- Choose activities to be applied in mathematics lessons.
With the Students :
- Our activities will have a multidisciplinary approach to the different sport fields. The pupils are encouraged to work collaboratively with their peers. Through the emphasis on discussion and group work the pupils are encouraged to adopt an investigative role in this project.
4. Expected results
- Students and teachers have experience about relationship between mathematics and Olympic, Paralympic Games
- Help students experience all aspects of sport (physical, cultural, artistic, civic and heritage).
- Create an Olympic and Paralympic culture.
- Learn and use Web 2.0 tools
- Contribute to the development of student’s 21 st century skills.
- Contribute to the personal development of students and teachers.
- Develop a greater student commitment to mathematics.
- Make the lessons enjoyable.
- Discover different cultures, different countries.
- Create resources for students with special educational needs;
- Create an ebook with the resources of our discovery in team works.
- Create a video about our project.
