November 23 is celebrated as Fibonacci day because when the date is written in the mm/dd format (11/23), the digits in the date form a Fibonacci sequence: 1,1,2,3. A Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers where a number is the sum of the two numbers before it.

November 23rd is Fibonacci Day, so we conducted several activities related to the famous Italian mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci. 6th grade students of Elementary school Pušća researched who Fibonacci was and then they created a digital poster. After that, in pairs, the students found the golden ratios in their own body structure, wrote down the lengths of certain body parts that they measured independently on the worksheet, and calculated the given ratios. Using the tasks from the worksheet, the students noticed that the proportions of certain parts of the human body are equal to the golden ratio. At the and of the activity Math teacher Marijana gave a presentation about the golden ratio and where it can be found in nature.

GREECE: Fibonacci Day in Vyronia Junior High School
On Thursday, November 23 (Fibonacci Day), the students of the 7st grade, in the Mathematics class, learned about Fibonacci numbers. The students learned who Fibonacci was, how the sequence is created and what is its value. These are numbers found in nature, in the animal kingdom and even in man himself...
Does mathematics copy nature or does nature copy mathematics? The presentation of the topic was made by the mathematician Kokkovas Vasilios.
